I don't really love fine art. I despise drawing, and Renaissance through Contemporary Art was the most insufferable thing imaginable at one point in my life. But I love designing things; logos, makeup looks, websites—all of it. I get my inspiration from things I see every day. I notice the shapes my hair makes on the shower wall or the seven layers of chipping paint in the subway, and I take pictures. Those kind of things inspire me to design.
My burning desire to work in beauty led me to New York in 2007 with $3000, a car and a place to stay. I bought 80 lip gloss pots at a dollar store and ordered as many free samples as I could trick onlinelabels.com into sending, with the master plan of branding each lip gloss with Luscious Designs and sending to them to every beauty director I could find. Coincidentally, an opportunity at Estée Lauder came up before I even finished my project. A one day try out turned into a week, which turned into nearly three years. And here I am.
I am formally trained in print design, but became fascinated with web after learning to hand-code html. I have been a web designer for five years.
